Harry Kelterborn Butcher in Wellesley

Caption: "Harry Kelterborn, 78, has been the village butcher since 1900 and the shop was operated by his father before him."
Excerpt: "One of the business men who has seen many of the changes take place is Harry Kelterborn, 78, a resident for 71 years who was born at Lisbon, two miles away. He still works in the butcher shop opened in 1885 by his father, August Kelterborn, and which he took over in 1900. He recalled for me that in his early days in the shop he used a horse to power the sausage-making machine, and then a gas engine in the days before electric power was available. ‘And for illumination,’ he said, ‘we used coal oil lamps and then carbide lights before the big switch to electricity.’" Hamilton Public Library
